by George (from Coquitlam, BC) August 2007 - I was stunned to find that I could get a room at this centrally-located and prestigious hotel for one of the best rates in town! Situated right in the centre of downtown; it is easy walking distance to the Royal Ontario Museum, the Legislature, University of Toronto, the Church-Wellesley neighbourhood, Yonge Street and many other well-known sites worth seeing. The area felt safe at night with many people walking and was well-lit (also had a 24 hour grocery store in the next building for things you may have forgotten/favourite foods you may be missing) and was an easy walk to many great restaurants and pubs. There are several nice shops and galleries close although the local stretch of Yongue tends to be focused on cheap T-shirts and tacky merchandise.
My room was admittedly small but was pristine and well-furnished, included a turn-down service each night with chocolates on the bed, and it even had a small balcony to overlook the neighbourhood. The bathroom was stocked with the typical toiletries and there is a coffee maker with supplies and a safe in the room. Both the front desk staff and the concierges were courteous and helpful and the lobby itself was stunning, marble and semi-precious stones inlaid with Torontonian and Canadian symbols.
