September 2008 - What can I say about this famous Toronto eatery? Ruth Tal Brown, the owner of the popular Fresh, was one of the first entrepreneurs in Toronto to bring vegetarian food to the masses. On a Friday night the place was packed with people looking for something healthy before heading out for the night. My date and I started the night off with one of the locally brewed organic beers at a fair price and a plate of sweet potato fries between us. These are a must! The salads are considered a main on their own because they are huge, hearty and filling! The rice bowls are also very nourishing. And for less than $15, one of the great deals in Toronto. The Green Goddess is packed full of kale, bok choy and broccoli. Worried about the bitterness? Not to worry. The pickled ginger and the creamy tahini and cilantro dressing make this dish an absolute delight! I go back to Fresh often. The large salads, rice bowls and amazing veggie-burgers are just a few of the reasons. And don’t forget that the juice bar is always running – you’ll be sure to find something fresh and rejuvenating that you can gulp down on the road.
