| "Terrible Experience" |
by Lonnie (from Mississauga) July 2007 - Wife and I had Rueben sandwich at Joy Bistro. The corned beef was more than 50% thick fat. Owner gave us $4.00 off our bill when he saw so much dat piled on the plate. Worst meal I have ever had in Toronto. Saty away from at all costs.

| "Reasonable French restaurant delivers" |
by Jessica (from Toronto) June 2007 - The area between the Toronto Beaches and downtown used to be a tired stretch of used furniture stores and seedy pawnshops. Now, home to modern fusion cuisine and high-end retro furniture stores, the area is increasingly attracting up and coming clientele. Amongst this, Joy Bistro sits on a corner of Queen Street that mixes a strange blend of down and out passers by and edgy urbanites. Inside, Joy announces itself with a dark mahogany bar that takes up a full quarter of the inside space of the restaurant. Traditional French décor and food predominate. Joy Bistro’s wine list is sophisticated, educated, and reasonable – with the exception of the phenomenal wine Duckhorn, featured on the wine list for $140 dollars a bottle. My Pinot Grigio along with my companion’s Chardonnay were cleverly selected as exceptionally good white wines for their price range ($7-9$ dollars a glass). My main entrée was simply and unpretentiously named the “Vegetable Stack,” a lovely stack of marinated nightshade vegetables with goat’s cheese. My companion had one of the specials of the evening – mussels and fettuccine in a tomato sauce. The service was attentive though removed, suiting of a French restaurant, and to top off the meal, we shared a mango-mousse dessert. The mousse was true to its name and the taste revealed real mangoes had been used in this twist on the more conventional mousse flavors.
