by Jessica (from Toronto) August 2007 - Located just south of Dupont on Bathurst, Noon restaurant is an unassuming little bistro-restaurant, looking like one of many post-modern/retro diners in the Metro area. Its menu is simply too cute. As the waitress says, everything's good. She says this quite matter-of-fact, spoken believably with the quiet confidence of one who knows. Noon restaurant does a magazine menu - one is offered limitless toppings to add to any sandwich, with such extra delights as marinated shitake mushrooms and provalone cheese amongst fifteen other options. There is also the opportunity to make your own sandwich from their gourmet offerings: $10 vegetarian and 9$ vegan. We started our meals with two grapefruit-blueberry vegan smoothies, which taste exactly like a concentrated rush of freshly blended pink grapefruit and blueberries... heavenly. I also had an Americano which was modestly decent (this isn't an Italian expresso bar). For my lunch, I ordered a Curried Quinoa and White Bean Salad, which came pre-mixed in a pile adorned with cascading halved cherry tomatoes. My friend had the Parisian sandwich which is a classic of melted mozerella cheese with fried tomatoes on a baguette. The waitress here was excellent with a pride in service that would have suggested she was the owner if not for her modesty and youth.
