August 2007 - I heard alot about this place - I even saw a review about it in a Toronto paper not long ago, so I was psyched to go. I was taking a friend from out of town and I thought we were in for a treat. I even asked a woman on the street for directions on how to get there despite being already right in front of several other mouthwatering breakfast restaurants. We arrived to a full house at grapefruit moon, though we were happy to sit outside in their sheltered side patio where old bikes woven into the fencing serve as decor. When telling the waitress (who looked fourteen) we were sitting outside, I had the feeling she might forget to bring us the menus. She proved me wrong and served us as best she could as the only waitress serving twelve tables inside - she ran between indoor and outdoor table service.
My friend and I had the all day breakfast - two organic, free run eggs any-style, with homefries, your choice of toast, and fruit for $6. There is a choice to add either sausage, bacon, peameal bacon, or vegan bacon for another $2 which we both opted for. grapefruit moon is a restaurant with an ethical vision: doing business mostly with local, small farms and catering to vegan/vegetarian and conscience-driven eaters. The waitress, despite being run off her feet, kept refilling our coffee and the rest of the menu looked delicious. Apparently we just arrived at a really busy lunch.
