June 2007 - I ate dinner later in the evening at Monarchs which is located on the mainfloor of the Delta Chelsea Hotel in downtown Toronto. I was there later in the evening so the menu was limited but there are more options available during the day. My dinner sized ceasar salad was surprisingly good and was served with fantastic garlic toast. It was a big salad and was enough to fill me up for a meal.
It was quiet in there when I first sat down but I lingered over my meal and was doing some work while I sat there so I stayed quite late into the evening. Around 11pm or so, the music was turned up, the lights were turned down and a dance floor broke out in the middle of the room. It was an interesting crowd as it turned out some were hotel guests but many actually lived in the area and just really like going there. Customers and staff were very friendly.
Although Monarchs is not a place I would normally seek out for a good meal, I was glad that I ended up there as the experience was a good one. If you find yourself in that area and are looking for an easy place to have a bite and meet some interesting locals and hotel guests, check out Monarchs.
