by Robyn (from Toronto) May 2008 - I have been to Bow Thai several times both dine in and take out. The food is fresh and always hot. The Pad Thai is great and Purple garden is tasty and different, Curry shrimp is excellent. The staff are very friendly, always smiling and very polite and accomodating. Great Little Place!

| "Prompt, Pleasant and Polite Thai Food" |

by Jessica (from Ottawa) December 2007 - Bow Thai restaurant is located in the East end of Toronto, catering to a largely North American suburban crowd -perhaps this is why the food is somewhat generic. Bow Thai has all the favorites of a Thai restaurant, and quite a pleasant atmosphere in which to dine - it offers simple, satisfactory dining. Thai food is amongst my favorite dining experiences, so, I'll admit perhaps my standards are higher than some.
We started off with spring rolls, a yummy Asian staple. We debated between pad hai and the green curry vegetable dish, finally opting for the curry. While perusing the menu, I noticed the great variety of salads - unusual for a Thai restaurant. Ranging from such delectable sounding names as 'Pink Lady" (steamed tiger shrimps marinated with red onion, sweet pepper, coriander and Bow Thai special sauce), and "Four friends from sea" (imitated crab, shrimps, squid and mussels marinated with Thai spicy, special sauce, red onion, sweet pepper and mint leaves), Bow Thai offers seven distinctly different Thai salads in total. I like that they offer salads made with exclusively Thai ingredients, rather than the North American Asian restaurant tradition of imitating a European ice-burg lettuce salad (usually poorly). Bow Thai also offers fusion cuisine with such entrees as 'Santafe chili Mussels," composed of New Zealand mussels, red onion, garlic, ginger, chili paste, sweet peppers, red pepper puree, tomato puree, tomato puree, and basil leaves.
Upon arrival of our vegetable green curry, I must admit I was happy to be eating a well-known and loved dish, opting for the milder of the two conventionally offered Thai curries (red curry being the hotter of the two). Bow Thai vegetable green curry was both satiating and uneventful. The curry had no distinct taste to it, and the portion size was average. I would have liked it more if Bow Thai had a brown rice option in the menu: for the health conscious - white basmati rice is a no-go, though I suppose acceptable every once and a while. The service at Bow Thai is prompt, pleasant, and polite.
