"Fantastic with a conscience"

December 2007 - Get Real! Cafe is an amazing brunch dining experience. Artfully executed in every respect, their brunch truly is an experience to savor. Beginning with complimentary water with a grape placed at the bottom of each glass, the waitress brought me a fair-trade, organic Americano, while my friends enjoyed the Get Real's drip coffee. I ordered a freshly-squeezed grapefruit juice, and a mediterranean omelette with red peppers, mushrooms, spinach, and feta cheese, which came with a side of delicious home flavored and baked potatoes, while my friends had a breakfast plate with refried beans, the same delicious home potatoes, and toast - which also includes an egg any style option for $2 extra dollars. Get Real is a vegetarian brunch restaurant, and masters its niche perfectly. The restaurant ha a boutique feel to it, including the waitress whose polished, unobtrusive yet efficient presence silently supported our experience - seemingly effortlessly. Upon arrival of the bill, we were surprised to discover that our never-ending supply of refill coffee was charged per cup and that there was no discount for the second, third and fourth mug each of my friends had. I suppose it's the result of a fair-trade, organic, and vegetarian cultural climate, and, ultimately, worth the extra couple of dollars for excellence. Our bill, including tip, ended up being about $20 a meal, which would have been about $15 including tip if we hadn't been charged for copious amounts of coffee and a freshly squeezed grapefruit juice at $3.50 a glass. I suppose it's the price for decadence. Still, a delightful meal.
