"This camp has everything"

by Ruth (from Oshawa)
August 2007 - On visiting this camp we asked if we could look around. They did better than that. Before we knew it ,the owner had come with a golf cart and took us on a tour. We were camping with a tent and he showed us what was available. He had alot of permanents but also keeps some sites open for over nighters or people who want to stay for a week or so. Anyway, he does not stick these people all in the back area's. They are scattered throughout the park. One area is called Turtle circle and is great if more than one family is camping together. There are about 6-8 sites in that area. They also have a few sites right on the waterfront that are also available for transient campers. The sites are all well groomed. The washrooms are immaculate. I've never seen any so modern in a campground. You have to park by the playground (which is really nice and clean) to walk to a nice sandy beach. It is bouyed off for the little ones or people who like to know when the water starts to get deeper. They also offer two trailers for rent. One house's 6 and the other 9 people. These are rented to a family. Meaning , parents and siblings of those parents. If there are extra people there is a $10.00 charge for each adult and $ 5.00 for each child per night. The regular cost for a campsite is $ 35.00 a night per family(the trailers are more). Again the above charges would apply for extra people. A little higher than most campgrounds but you get so much more for your money. They also rent canoes and I believe paddle boats, and life jackets are included in the rental. There are movies shown in the rec hall, bingo, & Euchre throughout the wk. There are programs booked on the wk.ends as well. There are pool tables and great toys (such as a playhouse) inside the store area that the kids can play with. There is also laundry facilities on site. This park would appeal to anyone. I could feel very safe in this park as the owners seem to keep on top of things. They are proud to say they are very lucky to have the people they do that stay there permanently & have a waiting list for permanent people. The owner will share any information you would like to know. There is a discount in the off season. Even the fall up there would be a wonderful sight to see. I can't say enough about how well we were treated and the friendliness of all the staff in the store area as well. They seemed very well organized. The Ont. Camping Ass. rates camping from 1-5. Apparently, to get a 5 you need all paved roads and street lights, which will never happen. I would rate it a full 5 and would recommend it to anyone. It's easy walking for the older people as well.
