| "Stay away - Ripoff" |

July 2007 - This motel is situated on the 400 highway between Gravenhurst and Bracebridge. The non-smoking rooms are right by the highway and the noise continues all night. The motel is in bad need of repair - the screen doors have no screen, no glass and no latches. They just bang back and forth in the breeze. The room had indoor/outdoor carpeting on the floor. The bathroom needs to be gutted and redone. At $129.00 plus tax a night, this is a place to stay away from. Keep on driving!

June 2007 - Don't believe what you read. Upon arrival, we found the swimming pool nothing more than a mud hole in the ground, the rooms badly in need of repair, and a very pleasant, but devastated, new owner who informed us that he could do nothing about the price we were charged because we booked online. We were stuck because it was a long weekend and there were no vacancies in the area, in places that we would consider staying at. Also there is no breakfast offered, as advertised. the satallite TV only offers 10 channels and none of them a movie channel, mostly news from everywhere but Ontario. Not only were we taken, but it appears that the new owner also was taken. He has promised that he will be fixing up the motel, but in the meantime, it certainly isn't a place that I would reccommend for the price, at this time. The only saving grace was the beds were clean and there is a restaurant right next door that serves a good, but a bit pricey, breakfast. The new owner is a nice chap and I think should be given a chance, the advertising is not his, it is from the old owners and apparently the motel was in much worse condition.

June 2007 - In all the years I have travelled, I have never seen such a poorly managed property! The room I had booked (non-smoking) was filthy dirty. I suspect the non-smoking room sign was put out a few days prior. In the bathroom, the nicotine on the walls had liquified, leaving behind streaks of brown everywere. The room smelled really bad and the bathroom was not clean. The wall paper on the walls no longer stuck to the walls at the seams and in the corners. What was exposed was several layers of old wall-paper, quite unsightly indeed. The sheets smelled musty, like they had either not been washed or had been washed a long time ago. Bedbugs and other vermon were on top of my list should we have made the decision to stay. Although the proprieter switched us to another room, it was even worse than the first room. What a waste of money! I will be in touch with my credit card company in the hope of obtaining a reversal of the charges. To Sum it up, we got duped into paying good money for the "NO TELL MOTEL".
We ended up staying at a LOVELY bed and breakfast in Gravenhurst, for less money than this motel. Can't even say "buyer beware". If you are travelling in Gravenhurst, go the B&B route. Many many lovely properties...and the sheets are actually clean!!
