| "Worth a Stop!" |

by Brandy (from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) July 2007 - The Serendipity Gardens restaurant is located along a relatively barren section of the Trans-Canada Highway but it is definitely worth a visit for road weary travellers. Two roadside signs, one to either side of the small town of Rossport, are the only indication of this secluded oasis. Rossport lies approximately 1.5 hours east of Thunder Bay and 1 hour west of Marathon. The restaurant is owner-operated and possesses small-town charm with what appears to be a four-star menu. The food selection is not overly large but includes such local favourites as fresh caught lake trout from Lake Superior. Dinners overlook the lake from the log cabin-style interior. Choice of soups and salads accompany most meals and many menu options are Greek inspired. A prime rib meal accompanied by a baked potato and fresh vegetables is a weekend specialty not to be missed. All food is excellently prepared and while dining, there is a sense that the incredible dinning experience ought to be kept a secret. Local musicians sometimes frequent the restaurant late in the evenings on the weekend. The Serendipity Gardens must not be passed by but should also remain a well-guarded secret: that’s a part of its charm.
