July 2008 - In Kanata, The WORKS is located in the Stonehaven Plaza (64 Stonehaven Drive) alongside pizza, submarine sandwich, sports bar restaurants, medical offices and other retail outlets . Late on a Wednesday night, there was still a bigger crowd than could be handled by the full staffing. Despite the new outlets, The WORKS franchise is suffering growing pains. I have noticed more and more young families joining the clientele.
The four of us started with the Tower-O-Rings, deep fried onions, and the usual dipping sauces Beechouse and Sweet ‘n’ Spicy. The rings were overdone tonight, too crunchy.
I chose a past burger selection, The Sweet Ride. Half a pear with caramelized onions and brie on beef. No whole wheat buns were available. My dining partner borrowed my onions which were added to her Greek Goddess (sans buns, I noticed).
The third member of our foursome courageously sampled the fajita poutine. Looking over her shoulder, all I could see was a plate covered in caramelized onion.
The least adventurous member of our team settled for the burger entitled: Ho Hum #2. Hey, at least he added extra cream cheese. In my books, that’s different.
