August 2008 - After fourteen years in Orleans, this was my first visit to the Lexus Resto-Bar. It was just after 7 on a Saturday night and the place was busy. With the exception of the bar patrons, the clientele were much older than the two of us. After less than an hour, we were the only diners left in the place. I guess dinner hour was over.
Lexus is old school. The decor is dark. The walls are covered in faux-Monet and sports icons in frames. The menu, though lengthy, is built on the standards of steak, salads, pastas and pizzas.
I came to “Try the best Smoked Meat in the region!” However, this is not Montreal. Nevertheless, my reuben sandwich was interesting. The sandwich was open with a large helping of food set on one well-toasted slice of bread. That slice of bread was as hard as melba toast and just as difficult to cut. The melted cheese which sat on the sauerkraut and smoked meat was so large that I mistook it for a pile of fried egg. Even so, the sandwich was good. The accompanying fries reminded me of Burger King.
I shared my cole slaw (and pickle) with my dining partner. After finishing the cole slaw and her horiatiki, she found far too much oil sitting in the dishes.
Before the meal, we shared a plate of suicide chicken wings; after the meal, a piece of cookies and cream cake.
For the sports minded, televisions are well placed throughout the restaurant.
