August 2007 - The Tropical Kitchen is located in the upper level of the Place d’Orléans shopping centre, the largest mall in the east end of the city of Ottawa. For a mall restaurant I find the prices a bit expensive, well over $20 for the two of us, but you’ll get more food than you can eat. You’ll also notice that this restaurant always has a queue of faithful patrons waiting for more of their favourite Lebanese food.
My preference is the chicken shishtaouk plate. I always choose homus and tabouleh for my salad choices. There are usually ten or more salad options to choose from. My partner always requests extra pickled turnips to garnish her meal. The stuffed grape leaves are worth the extra dollar. The garlic sauce is delicious but may come back on you later in the day.
While I am certain that the Tropical Kitchen has desserts to sell you, I’ve never made it to the dessert course.
