September 2007 - The Rangoli restaurant in Orléans (suburban Ottawa) has made some wonderful improvements to the decor. They’ve also added parking spaces. Business must be going well but this is no surprise because the North Indian food is still hot and tasty.
This night, our entrees were chicken karahi, tarka dal and sag aloo (spinach & potato). Accompanying the meal, I had three tandoori roti (chapatti bread) and three nan bread. Rangoli offers a significant variety of breads but the roti and nan were least expensive. We didn’t need that much bread but found room because we'd passed on any rice dish in this meal.
The raita is a bit expensive but high quality. This night, the Indian salad was prepared by a man. Nevertheless, the rest of the meal was marvelous.
If you have room after the meal, Rangoli is the best place in Canada for take-away snacks: cakes (barfi), dry dal snacks and dozens of other treats (such as jalebis).
