"Cheap 1950'S Diner: tastes like how it looks"
6.83
by Jessica (from Ottawa)
May 2008 - Bramasole Diner looks like a 1950’s Diner, preserved with care. The red and white colour scheme and plastic upholstered booths create an upbeat, if not frenetic, quality. My friend and I played musical chairs with the tables: there are several island tables in the middle of the room which we moved to and from, waiting for a booth to open up, which it quickly did, before we placed our orders. We both ended up ordering the simplest vegetarian breakfast option: two eggs with toast, fried potatoes, and coffee for under $5 each. Hard to beat, though it depends what you’re looking for in terms of quality and originality. If you’re looking for either, you may want to go elsewhere. Bramasole seems like a family, novelty diner, where the few hipsters in Ottawa can congregate for a cheap weekend brunch. The coffee’s weak and yucky, though limitless in quantity; the potatoes are heavily salted and flavored - though maybe you like that; and the poached eggs are a little watery - though who really minds... So go here for the deal and atmosphere, and leave your food critic at home.

"New old diner"
5
by David (from Orléans)
October 2007 - The Bramasole Diner in Orleans is a new tenant in what was previously a franchise of Rockin' Johnny's Diner. The greasy-spoon fare, the greasy-spoon prices and the greasy-spoon service continue. You get what you pay for.

What has changed: the hours of operation. The diner now closes at three o’clock
in the afternoon. This particular Bramasole Diner is located in suburban Ottawa only one block from the Orleans Cora's Breakfast location. It is no coincidence that Cora's also closes at 3 p.m. I suspect that Bramasole will benefit from the overflow from the often busy Cora's restaurant. Even so, there is no comparison between the
two restaurants.

Today's special at Bramasole was blueberry pancakes. The fluffy pancakes nicely
soaked up the syrup as fast as I could pour it. The sausage links were hot but not so tasty. The bacon strips were cold.

Bramasole has two other locations in Ottawa.
