November 2007 - The queue at McDonalds was too long. So we made our first ever visit to the Eastern City Restaurant on St-Joseph, downtown Orleans. The Chinese-food lunch specials were very affordable and the service was prompt.
I ordered the Singapore style meal: stir fried rice vermicelli, bean sprouts, barbecued pork, shrimp and chicken in curry. My dining partner ordered General Tao's chicken which included fried rice, vegetables and complimentary soup. The soup of choice was hot and sour. The soup was hot, not spicy, and full of food.
Unfortunately, my Singapore style meal was overwhelmed with pieces of fried eggs - eggs and I don't get along. I swapped meals with my dining partner. We chose our meals because the menu stated that those particular meals would be spicy. Sadly, the meals were not at all spicy.
Apparently, the large pot of green tea was complimentary. Interestingly, the
other patrons in the restaurant were all solo diners.
