| "Taco Del Mar" |

by David (from Orléans) January 2008 - Place d’Orléans has welcomed one of the first Canadian franchises of Taco Del Mar. This is not a Taco Bell want-to-be. The food is fresh, the servings are large and if you want spicy, you get spicy, really.
I began with a Mondo Burrito combo. The combo includes a drink, chips and salsa (or guacamole or sour cream). One first selects the type of tortilla: garden tomato, white, whole wheat or guacamole (today - guacamole bread). At this point one can purchase some sour cream or guacamole. I’m glad that I bought some sour cream because the extra spice proved to be a bit too much. Next, one selects meat: braised chicken, ground beef, shredded beef or seasoned pork. (Despite the name of restaurant and its logo, I’m not interested in a fish taco. The Alaskan fish was advertised but not available.) One then selects the beans: spicy black, creamy or whole. None of those bean choices resemble the bean paste in a fast-food taco.
Add to the above, rice, cheese, pico de gallo and spicy sauce (I did) and watch the Taco Del Mar magician wrap the burrito in so much foil. The magician then demonstrates how to carefully and gradually open the burrito and eat. It’s easy to unwind the foil but expect a mess of foil pieces at your table. As the poster yells out: Don’t Unwrap or It’s in Your Lap!
