April 2009 - The Emerald Buffett is located in Vanier. The premises were once known as or occupied by the Du Barry Buffett restaurant. The interior format is much the same as it was, providing a sushi bar, a Mongolian kitchen, a full Chinese buffet and a great number of Western dishes (from pizza to pastas and beyond).
Du Barry was the place to eat lots on a budget as long as you weren't too concerned with the quality of the food or the cleanliness of the building. Things have improved dramatically. There is a slightly greater variety of food. The quality is much better and fresher. I even had fresh crunchy vegetables in my rolls from the sushi bar. The three of us raved about how tasty our choices were (and we all sampled different things). I highly recommend the tako dinner (even if is was more likely cuttlefish than octopus).
The restaurant itself also appeared cleaner. However, my shoes still stuck to the floor upon leaving the washroom.
