"Neighbourhood Pub with a Nice Patio"
8.33
by Jeannine (from Calgary)
August 2007 - We stopped by the Cock & Lion as it was close to the apartment that we stayed at with a friend. We had no idea what to expect but it looked not bad and they had a nice patio out front that offered a good selection of sun and shade. We were also told that they offered live music on the weekends (we were there on a Saturday) In keeping up with there Scottish theme, the servers all wore kilts. We decided to go for a selection of pub food (as this was the majority of the menu) and went with the standard wings and nachos, but rather than beef as a nacho topping we went with Chicken. I am not sure if it is because I am from Alberta or not, but I have only ever seen beef as a nacho topping, needless to say I was intrigued. We couldn't decide on wing flavours so we had the server choose for us. When they arrived the wing flavours were honey garlic and slat and pepper. These were a little dissapointing - the honey garlic were ok, but the salt and pepper seemed a little overdone. The nachos, however, were a treat. They added seasoning right to the chips themselves which gave them a great flavour. They also brought a good portion of salsa and sour cream. We all left satisfied and with a little money in our pockets. All in all a great little pub that I would definately return to (but not for the music, which was barely audible).
