August 2007 - Located in the Byward Market, this restaurant attracted us with its nicely lit awning, great location (right off the busy part of Byward) and nice little front patio. When we walked inside the staff seemed friendly and the menu varied, so we decided to stay. The beer selection was good, but we were a little put off by the fact that most of the wines on the list had been discontinued, however the selection they still offered seemed reasonable enough. We started with the crab cakes, which were delicious. As a main, I choose a salmon dish, while my husband went with the seafood linguini. For my tastes the salmon was perfectly cooked and the linguini had a great, light flavour that was not overbearing. Admittedly, we were going to try the dessert bar next door for something sweet afterward, but it closed before we finished our meal, so we ordered dessert from there instead. Although the selection was limited, I ordered the chocolate cheese cake and it was quite amazing. My husband also enjoyed his Berry Clafoutis, a baked custard-like desert accompanied by a nice glass of port. Although the bill was quite expensive, considering its location in Byward, we thought it to be quite reasonable compared to others in the neighbourhood.
