September 2007 - We visited the Fat Albert’s franchise in the Canotek industrial park, a great option for the blue-collar crowd who must otherwise depend on the arrival of the gut truck. We went for the subs but pizzas are also available. The variety of sandwiches and meats on the menu board seems better than that offered by Subway. Apparently, your choice of Fat Albert sub predetermines your choice of fixings and condiments. Actually, it was a nice change not to be given the Subway interrogation: toasted? cheese? bread? fixings? sauces? combo?
Like Subway, Fat Albert’s offers a special daily sandwich selection at a discounted price. However, the Fat Albert’s special sub of the day is a 12 inch purchase. At Subway, one can purchase a 6 inch special.
I enjoyed my International Hero submarine sandwich. My partner (predictably) tried the Club Sub. Sadly, my partner said he would not be returning to Fat Albert’s. I will be back. I do, however, agree with something else my partner said. Concerning the sandwich maker, he said “I wish he had worn gloves.”
