"Excellent service, Very Clean"
8.83
by Markus (from Ottawa Canada)
March 2008 - Me and my family went to the royal for our first time not to long ago, I was amazed at the service especially since they did not come to fill my water a billion times to make me full, the food was delicious and looked very fresh.

"All you can eat Chinese & Canadian Buffet"
6.33
by David (from Orléans)
November 2007 - One always knows what to expect at a Chinese buffet -- plenty of hot food of mediocre quality with no waiting and not much tipping required.

The Royal Buffet fits that description to a tee -- but it has the added drawback of being in the wrong corner of one of the worst-designed parking lots on the planet. Located at the busy corner of Bank Street and Hunt Club Road, you can swoop into the parking lot going east on Hunt Club but slow down and try staying to the right; you may find a parking spot at the back. Otherwise be prepared to walk around three sides of the complex from the main parking lot to reach the stairs leading to the Royal's door.

Bright spots in their otherwise typical selection of wonton soup, garlic ribs and "mini hot dogs"? Yes, there were some. The lemon chicken had a nice bite. The hot and sour soup was hot and deliciously sour. The chicken balls (can't believe I actually ate one) was more chicken than ball!

And unless you're trying to impress a new Chinese friend, don't do the red bean cake on the dessert bar -- or any other cake for that matter. Trust me. Stick with the green tea ice cream in small portions. You'll be full, your wallet won't be empty and you won't have to force yourself to swallow some pretty untasty stuff. (under $25/two buffet lunches and beverages)
