by David (from Orléans) January 2008 - The food courts in the Carlingwood Mall have only national chains to offer for dining. However, the Carlingwood Family Restaurant has been serving locals for more than fifty years; one can tell. Staff seem to know all the patrons.
By some twenty years, I was the youngest diner in the restaurant which clearly caters to the older crowd with hearing and mobility concerns. A number of times, the host or server would assist a diner with removal of his or her big winter coat.
The menu reflects the older crowd, featuring sections dedicated to the seniors. I don't recall seeing a kid's menu but then I didn't see any kids.
My sirloin steak entré came with a salad which timely arrived before the meal. Thank you. I was also grateful for the large serving of Thousand Island dressing. I removed the onions that topped the salad but that was a nice touch for those so inclined.
Even before the salad arrived, I unexpectedly received a nice big dinner bun, chilled but big. I should have saved the yummy bun for my steak which provided lots of its own steak juice to sop up.
I found the medium-well steak tough and stringy but then I didn't expect any different. My plan had been to try one of their many desserts. However, with the salad, bun, steak and baked potato, I had to pass. I had no space for more.
