by Brandy (from Dartmouth) December 2007 - The Buffet Moti Mahal located at 164 Laurier West is just a short walk South of Parliament. It is not much to look at on the outside and it is not much to look at on the inside. Six of us frequented the buffet on a weeknight in December on the advice of a member of our party who had previously been there. The wait staff was very friendly but there was some trouble seating us even though there were plenty of empty tables. The food, décor, and the atmosphere were all the same: just okay. For the most part, the different food choices in the separate buffet trays never ran empty and the Naan bread was constantly being replenished. There were at least ten different main selections and several choices of chutneys and yogurts to accompany them. Unfortunately, not one dish stood out amongst the rest, not even the butter chicken. Dessert selection was good and included those classic syrupy dough balls. As the price for the buffet was only $16 after tax but before tip, the quality of the food was quite reasonable. I recommend going if you are very hungry or in a large group. If you are looking for especially good Indian food, I might suggest looking elsewhere.
