"Getting better every year"

by Janet (from Kingston Ontario)
September 2008 - Beachwood Hollow is looking better each year I return. They now have the hall up and runiing with pool table and movies. The cottage has new siding and upgrades inside. The price is still great and the owners are friendly and inviting.

"Friendly owners"

August 2006 - From the minute you arrive Mike and Diane work hard to make your stay a pleasant one. The place gets better every year. The price is still good for what you get.
We researched different cottage rentals business in the area extensively before booking. We found Beachwood Hollow Resort we very reasonably priced and this resort offered alot more emenities then most others we looked at. The fishing on the lake is good. The Resort is at the edge of a small and very friendly town. Everything you need is close by! We enjoyed out stay here very much and will definately return next year. The kids loved it because there was lots to do and and they made lots of friends.

"don't go!!!"

August 2006 - Sounds very nice on the web and even the pictures look fine but don't be fooled.
The cottages are filthy - the two that we had booked - we were two families - were cottage #10 and cottage #6.

Cottage #10 - a three bedroom was filthy. The matresses are stained and stink, there is carpeting in the living room and bedrooms that is filthy and smells. The kitchen is just terrible. It has a linoleum floor that is filthy.
When we walked in you saw that the kitchen floor was crawling with big black ants.
We lasted three nights and then went to speak to the owners which was to no avail.

The wives of the two families went to a hotel in Belleville while the husbands stayed in cabin #6 and fished for the rest of the week because they were not going to refund any of the money pre-paid for the entire week plus a boat rental.
Cabin #6 was a two bedroom that was a little bit better than Cabin #10 but still quite dirty and run down. Strange bites were on my kids and my legs

I do not recommend this place.

Management Response:

They wanted us to give them a deal because they booked two cottages and when we said no. This is how they said they would get us back.We did everything we could to please them.We gave them a third cottage , no charge because he said he couldn't sleep with his wife in the same bedroom. As for cottage # 10, it has new carpet in the living room. As for the cottage being clean ,yes we have a staff of two that clean them and then we check thier work.We also febreez the cottage before arrival. People that give this kind of review are the kind that will never be happy. Always want to take a mile when you give them a inch. I read that you don't put hear say in this section but after reading this review of us ,I think you do. We work hard to make this resort better every year and keep the price down.

"Fun, Friendly, Fresh Air!"
9
by Teresa (from Mississauga)
July 2006 - We have rented cottages for our family of four throughout Ontario and Quebec for several years, and they have ranged from downright awful to fairly good. So we have never set our standards too high - as long as they were clean and near water, we were usually satisifed. Then we found Beachwood Hollow Resort and the bar was set to a whole new level. The cottages, while fairly standard in size availability and style, were all freshly painted and were very clean inside. However, the grounds (including a playground area for the children) and especially the beach area were immaculately maintained. The lake (Stoco) is good for swimming and is a fisherman's dream. For those who don't own a boat, boat rentals are available at a very reasonable rate and boat operator licences can be written on-site. While we were there, a neighbouring cottager caught and released a 54" muskey and showed us the picture to prove it! Each cottage had its own firepit and free firewood, so we enjoyed many nights sitting around the fire in a family-friendly community. But most enjoyable were the owners, Mike and Diane, who went out of their way to be friendly and helpful and who made our stay so enjoyable. The resort is less than a mile from town (Tweed) which has its own grocery, liquor and beer store as well as lots of other shops, so it was very convenient for us. We would highly recommend Beachwood Hollow Resort and we have already booked our return visit for next year.

July 2006 - I have enjoyed this resort for the past 5 summer. Although it is a bit rustic , it is very clean and and liveable . I find the new owners are always pleasent and helpful.
Every summer I find more and more inprovements . My kids are always happy to know we are going again next summer. See you again next summer Mike and Diane
Keep up the great work.

"Great Family Fun"

by Hope (from Cayuga, Ontario)
July 2006 - Great place for the family to reconnect and enjoy the outdoors, the beach etc.
Family oriented fun with gracious and friendly hosts.
Cottages are basic and provide the basic needs for cottaging. I would call the cottages "rustic" and have a unique appeal. Our family spent little time in the cottages as we were busy meeting new friends and enjoying the outdoors and the beach.
For us the cottage was a place to sleep and cook, when not using the BBQ ofcourse.

"Gotta check this place out"

by Jim (from Ottawa,Ontario)
August 2004 - *Been going there for past 4 years and have already rebooked for 2007. My Kids are growing up with Mike and Diane and consider them family. Close proximity to the lovely quaint town of Tweed Ontario and situated on the shores of a peaceful lake. You can join in or be left alone, enough rules are in place for everybodies enjoyment, but, not so many you feel strangled. Days are casual and evenings are what you make of them. My family will be going back for many years, come join us and get a taste of one of Eastern Ontarios best kept secrets. If staying at the Hilton is your style , go there. If you are adventerous and have a rustic side this is the place for you!
