by Brandy (from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) July 2007 - The Versa Restaurant Bar is located at 432 rue Du Parvis in a newly revitalized and trendy section of Quebec City. Nestled amongst a host of other restaurant-bars along a pedestrian only street, Versa appears the most appealing from a décor and food choice point of view. The inside is very open and bright, while the open air patio pours onto the street. The menu at the entrance entices would-be diners with hip French items. A four-course meal that includes an appetizer, soup, a main, and a dessert is available starting at $21.95 to about $30. Although the food looks great on the menu, the diner gets what they pay for. The appetizer of Terrine de Lapin was unmemorable, the black bean soup tasted watered down, the main of Avocado Salmon Linguine was uninspired and was not even made with the linguine noodle promised in the menu. Even the easy-to-make dessert of crème brulee was undercooked in the middle and burnt on top. One should not expect great quality when paying only $22 for four courses, however. Ordered separately, the poutine au canard was a very interesting twist on a traditional dish. It looked awesome but tasted good. The staff speak French and English and are very attentive. The atmosphere is great at Versa so go for drinks rather than food.

Dear Brandy,
My name is Christian Veilleux and I am the owner of VERSA RESTAURANT BAR. I am dissapointed to hear from you with what happened. I am always working at my place to avoid this kind of comment and I taste everything (that is possible) to be sure that everything is good as it suppose to be. I am sorry for your dissapointement on your last Thursday (i think it was thursday). We are having 3 new cooks in the kitchen and they will be followed really near on everything they do...
The terrine will probably be removed from the menu (we buy it from a little store near here and I realize that his quality is not good enough) For the crème brûlée, that was too burnt on top...isn't should be, but the inside is supposed to be liquid, not cook.
Thank for the time you took to get the info and I'm glad you liked our drinks and the poutine...
Hope to see you again on a next trip to Quebec city!
Christian Veilleux
