by Lindsay (from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) August 2007 - Prairie Ink—located in the McNally Robinson bookstore on 8th Street. Arrive a little before noon to avoid the rush. Although several items on the menu have often temped me, I’m rarely able to branch out from the deliciously creative Pear and Blue Cheese Salad. It comes exactly as it sounds on a bed of mixed greens, topped with a raspberry puree. As is often the case with meal-sized salads, this one is also a little pricey considering its size. A more economical (and highly satisfying) alternative is to order one of the lighter meals and add the salad on the side. They make particularly tasty spicy curry samosas that come highly recommended by a vegetarian friend (and self-declared samosa connoisseur). The artsy bistro is actually most noted for its impressive selection of decadent desserts that simply can not go unmentioned. And if you don’t have room the first time, make a trip back for dessert and a coffee, though they’re not particularly generous about refills.
