| "A genius take on the classics." |
|
|
by Lindsay (from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) July 2007 - Jakes—a popular soup and sandwich bistro located in downtown Saskatoon. It may only be open during the business week (which has thwarted me a few times), but it’s definitely worth a second attempt. The limited hours of operation and relatively small seating area make for a bustling lunch hour, which is great for warding off the post-lunch tired attack. While they’re famous for their creative soups, I return for the great food, comfy seating with extra pillows, and the local art displays. The sandwiches, wraps and paninis are a genius blend of the classic favourites with a gourmet touch. Regular visits are apparently common, as some of the sandwiches are named after radio personalities and other local celebrities. The prices are reasonable considering the serving size, quality of the food and the overall great dining experience. You might have to wait for a table but you won’t be disappointed.
