| "A nice twist on breakfast!" |
|
|
by Lindsay (from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) August 2007 - Trager’s Bakery is a cozy little cafe-restaurant tucked away on 8th Street in Saskatoon. Although primarily functioning as a take-out bakery, Traeger’s eat-in customers benefit from the freshly baked goods and the often quiet atmosphere. While the place is apparently known for its German fare, I’ve always gone back for their creative take on breakfast. The specialty is certainly the French Toast that is made out of fresh buttery croissants. But another delightful twist on a classic is the Eggs Benedict, which is also made with a croissant. Instead of the standard meat and potato, they serve freshly sliced fruit for a lighter side. Sit at the front of the restaurant for the sun, or hole up in one of the pleasantly dim-lit booths at the back—great for gossip or morning-after rehabilitation. They’re generous with the coffee refills and don’t seem to mind those who stick around for a few, but the bakery counter often slows down the service a bit.
