October 2007 - Louis’ Pub is located on the University of Saskatchewan campus across from Place Riel and provides university-goers with a place to eat, drink or cram for that final exam. Since the renovations a few years ago, the feel of Louis’ has changed substantially and not necessarily for the better. Those who remember the dimly-lit, dank, order-at-the-counter Louis’ are disheartened to see the new Louis’ significant IKEA influence. The service is often slow because of the inadequate number of servers, which is no doubt due to Louis’ growing unpopularity since the renovations. Although lacking in creativity, the menu does justice to the basics and even features a few vegetarian options. As it is located in the basement of the MUB and lacks any direct sunlight, disillusioned students can get away with drowning their sorrows before noon. Unfortunately Louis’ is a common venue for shows despite the lack of seating, dance space and generally poor layout as a music venue. Nevertheless, as the only on-campus pub, Louis’ provides a welcome escape and watering hole for students, professors, and pub-dwellers alike.
