September 2007 - Homestead Ice Cream, locally owned and operated and located on Victoria Avenue in Saskatoon, is the best place in the city for fresh, homemade ice cream. Unfortunately for customers, Homestead Ice Cream operates on a seasonal basis and is only open in the summer months. Along with traditional and local favourites like Meewasin Mud and Saskatoon Berry, they often have more bizarre flavors like Avacado or Green Tea, or even Harry Potter themed ice cream flavors to correspond with last summer’s movie release. They recently relocated and reopened with a kinda tacky but cute 1950s theme, complete with juke box and traditional old-fashioned decor, that creates a truly retro soda shop feel. But a great alternative to dining in is to grab a cone and go for a stroll along some of the most beautiful streets in Saskatoon.
