| "M&S Simply Foods" |

July 2007 - It doesn't seem possible that the M&S with somewhat stodgy department stores, struggling to modernize and fashions fit for a tour bus full of seniors with bluish locks can be the same M&S behind Simply Foods.
These food stores are brilliant, in either form they take - as fully-stocked supermarkets within their department stores or as the compact convenience shops in train stations, motorway service stops, etc. The shops are known for their excellent quality and for offering a huge variety of ready-to-eat food but that which is healthy, yummy and visually enticing. Even their individually-packaged cheese selections inspire - Wensleydale with cranberries, Lincoln Blue with walnuts, etc - not your everyday Kraft Mozzarella stick!
Anyone visiting the UK should pop in - the food is a delight (even if half of it is down to the packaging!) and a much better way to spend 5-10 pounds than on the sandwich (white bread bun with a slice of cheese and a slice of ham, no mayo, no extras) and salad (shredded lettuce and a slice of tomato) you're likely to get if you go for a cheap cafe!
