June 2006 - I stayed at the SpringHill Suites Downtown Phoenix from June 7-13, 2006 and was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the hotel, the amenities it offered and the extremely helpful staff. The rooms were large, modern and clean and the sitting area and work desk were very convenient. They are also equipped with a refrigerator, a microwave and a sink area, making it easy to heat up snacks any time of day.
The front desk staff was extremely helpful. They would answer any type of question and were very approachable. The pool was a wonderful way to cool down in the evening and even the hot tub was relaxing (despite the extreme temperature of the air in Phoenix). We never got up early enough to have the breakfast, but from what I heard it was really tasty.
The location was just convenient, as it is just 3 blocks from Chase Stadium. Apparently there is a lot of crime in downtown Phoenix, but we didn't feel uncomfortable. However, on the weekends there is basically nothing going on in the downtown area, so if you're looking for entertainment, you might want to stay in Tempe, Scottsdale or Mesa. Overall, our stay at this hotel was wonderful and if I need to go back to Phoenix for some reason, I will definitely stay here again.
