April 2007 - Pioneer Lodge (or now Paradise Inn & Suites) requires you to check in before showing you a room. My first room smelled like smoke, was dusty, shower had mold in it, mattress caved in the middle, door wouldn't lock and there were stains on the carpet. The second room had a filthy bathroom, an un-emptied ashtray on the counter, graffiti on the counter and stains on the walls and carpet.
The manager said my credit card would be fully refunded BUT they still charged me for the first night, which I was later told was their policy if you 'check in'. There were no written statements near the cash register or on any of the paperwork or receipts. When I spoke with her on the phone on she said that the first-night charge was the company policy, but admitted it wasn't a written policy. She has refused to give contact information for the owner or management company so that I can get the rest of my money refunded.
