April 2007 - We were looking for a cheap room AND reasonable or free parking for our car AND close proximity to the downtown - a combination not easily found in San Francisco, or at least not at the last minute such as we needed. However, the Motel 6 on Geary Street was recommended to us and it fit the bill. It is located in the Mission District which is a bit seedy and we took care in the evenings when walking to and from our room but other than that and the basic nature of the chain's accommodation, this Motel 6 was actually great value for money. We paid just over US $100 and were within walking distance of all the city attractions and didn't need to pay for parking or use public transportation to get to places. Recommended if you're after the basics.
