by Tanya (from Calgary) June 2007 - A friend and I tried Sinbad's restaurant on a trip to San Francisco this summer. We were staying at the Hyatt Regency and wanted to try a seafood place that was within walking distance. We found Sinbad's quite easily on the pier, overlooking the bay and the Bay Bridge. It was already dark out when we went for dinner and the view of the water and the brightly lit bridge was fantastic. The interior of the restaurant was fairly basic for a nice dining room and everything was very clean. Our waitor was great, he asked where we were from and was able to recommend food based on our tastes. Since we were both there to enjoy as much seafood as possible, he told us to try the Captain's Seafood Combination which contained prawns, crab and scallops. We both ordered the dish and were both very impressed. It was absolutely delicious. To drink we tried a bottle of house white wine (a chardonnay) and while we're not experts, we thought it was very good. Overall, I have nothing but postive things to say about Sinbads. Friendly service, great food and an amazing view.

by Tara (from Santa Cruz, CA) June 2005 - A fine dining experience must delight the senses by providing food with a fine aroma, quality taste, and visual splendor. My husband and I did not have a fine dining experience at Sinbad's. When we were seated we asked for water. The water was banged down on the table and slopped across the dirty linen. The bread service was cold and stale. The menu's "fresh vegetables" were old over cooked zuccini. The rice was over cooked and tasted dirty. When we told the waitress she snipped, "It's saphron." We know what expensive saffron tastes like. This rice wasn't spiced with saffron. The rice wasn't yellow, it was white. The seafood was musty tasting and there was very little meat in the dish. The chief seemed to know that it was old and tried to hide the taste in thick layers of sauce. My husband requested coffee, twenty minutes later the waitress arrived and refilled his cup. A minute later a hurried looking dishwasher arrived, jerked the cup from my husband and took off for the back. He returned with an overfilled cup of coffee slopping hot liqued down the side and across our table. That didn't make any sense. The place wasn't even busy. Half the restraunt wasn't open to customers at the time. All of this cost us nearly $100.
