| "A sweet little mountain" |

March 2007 - Homewood Mountain Resort is one of several ski resorts in the Lake Tahoe area and a sweet little mountain despite its size. It doesn't have the elevation of most of the other resorts like Squaw Valley or Alpine Meadows but it is a fun, laid-back place to ski or ride and the views of Lake Tahoe are unparalleled. The lake is literally spread out in front of you as you descend practically all of the slopes. I snowboarded mainly at Alpine Meadows while I was in Tahoe but loved going to Homewood on a few occasions for some fun tree riding and untracked powder. Whereas at some of the other resorts, the powder is skied off within a day, we could always find some a week later at Homewood. On the day when we had beginners with us, Homewood was especially good as learners can go to the top of the mountain and ski/ride the gentle spine all the way down and aren't stuck at the bottom. It changed ownership in 2006 so perhaps a few of the slower chairs and the two lodges will get updated, which would make it an even better member of Tahoe's resorts.
