| "The Locals' Mountain" |

March 2007 - If you're headed to Tahoe, California for some skiing or riding, definitely check out Alpine Meadows between Tahoe City and Truckee. This is the mountain the locals love - it's unpretentious with a friendly, laid back atmosphere and awesome terrain. Although smaller than its well known neighbour Squaw Valley, Alpine has great bowls, glades and chutes without the crowds and posers. Hit the Sherwood area on the back of the mountain to feel completely away from resort or jump on the Summit Six chair to the top and take a quick hike to access the Estelle Bowl or the top of Sherwood on the back. If you go, check out the whole mountain. If you stay on Roundhouse or the main runs off the summit, you won't know what you're missing!
