January 2007 - If you're looking for healthy, sophisticated food and a cool ambiance, you should perhaps give the Truckee Diner a miss but if you're after a kid-friendly, family-style restaurant in Truckee without the pretense and $$$ of other restaurants around, the Truckee Diner is a good fit. There was a big group of us - 6 adults and 4 chillun' - which the diner accommodated easily. The kiddies were happy with crayons, chicken fingers and craziness while we adults had beers, BLTs and burgers - all followed by ice cream and old fashioned floats. The servers didn't scoot around on roller skates and Elvis was no where to be found, but the diner certainly had an 'American 50s' feel and provided for a fun, easy meal out.
