April 2008 - Our stay at the Anabella was a pleasant one. We were impressed by the Mission-style buildings and the lush gardens on the large property.
Our room was located on the second floor of the San Miguel building, and although there are no elevators to the second floors, the concierges are more than happy to help with luggage. They offer a very convenient drop-off and pick-up service via golf cart for check-in/out. The room itself was standard but very clean.
The main pool area was very nice, but was always busy in the evenings, especially in the hot tub. While the resort offered a separate "quiet" adults-only pool area, it did not have a hot tub. We and the couple we were traveling with don't have children, so needless to say, the hot tub in the main pool area was not that relaxing. We were also there during a major cheerleading championship being held at the Convention Centre (which is adjacent to the Anabella), so cheers were being practiced in the pool.
The hotel's website says that it is located directly across from the Disneyland Resort, but it is in fact about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the main gate. The best way to get there is to short cut through the Grand Californian hotel and through Downtown Disney. The hotels on Harbour Boulevard offer closer access to the resort, but we were very pleased with the hotel nonetheless.
The hotel exterior was being painted during our stay but it did not inconvenience us at all. Overall, a very nice hotel and good value for the money.
