"Family Oriented, very busy, excellent service"

by lori (from bathurst)
April 2008 - As a couple without children, we were happy to be seated on the patio away from the very busy interior rainforest-themed restaurant. It literally was a jungle in there! Despite warnings of long line ups, we were seated within ten minutes, most likely due to our small party of four and our willingness to sit on the patio in 50 degree weather (they pulled an overhead patio heater close to our table for us).
The menu offerings were varied and I eventually settled on a pasta dish that satisfied. My dining partners chose the rib, steak and coconut shrimp meal, which they all loved (none of them were crazy about the shrimp, though).
The restaurant serves some interesting desserts, specifically their chocolate Volcano, which none of us had any room for. But, be warned, if you do order one, your server will call out "Volcano!" repeatedly until it arrives at your table. No hiding the fact that you are about to dig into some major calories!
The service was excellent and despite being very busy, our server checked in on us frequently and was extremely friendly. A must do for families with young children, and for those without, stick to the patio.

"Worth The Wait In Line"

by Jean (from Calgary)
December 2007 - Children and adults alike will love dining at the Rainforest café in Downtown Disneyland. There seems to be a line up all day but we had called for preferred seating and our wait wasn’t bad at all. There’s so much to look at just through the entrance. The staff was excellent and when we were finally seated, we were taken through a gorgeous forest like restaurant to a room that seated only four families. The atmosphere is a lot of fun with thunderstorms all around with the occasional lighting strike and lots of animal sounds.
The food and the service topped the whole adventure of dining there. The menu was varied to the point of not being able to make up my mind, it all looked so good. I opted for the Pot Roast dinner and it was so mouth watering and much tastier than I ever made. One of my dining partners had the beef ribs and it was a huge portion and very delicious was the verdict.
We all shared the dessert specialty, The Volcano, and it was a super end to a terrific dinner. We would sure go back in a flash. Don’t let the line ups keep you away!!

"Long wait but worth a visit"

December 2007 - While on vacation at the Disneyland Hotel, we walked by The Rainforest Cafe several times and really wanted to have dinner there. The restaurant always had a line up and seemed to be incredibly busy. We had to make reservations two days in advance to get a time for dinner. Even though we had a reservation, we still had to stand in a line up with all the other people who had reservations. The most negative part of our dining experience was waiting around for half an hour past our reservation time while trying to entertain a hungry three year old. Luckily The Rainforest Cafe souvenir store had lots of distractions to help pass the time.

Once inside, the restaurant had a great, high energy atmosphere with no shortage of things to look at! And the indoor thunderstorms were fun. We had to climb up and down many staircases but I suspect they must have an alternative for handicapped people. Our meals were delicious - I opted for the Mojo Bones (pork spareribs with Mojo bbq sauce), my wife had the Primal Steak (charbroiled new york strip) and our daughter had the three mini hot dogs. We even enjoyed the Sparkling Volcano for dessert! The above average price was something we expected. The service was great though! We would go back for another dining adventure.
