| "A trendy winebar more than a wine tasting room" |

April 2007 - We visited this winery in Glen Ellen because it is a sister winery to the Benziger Family Winery which we also visited and thoroughly enjoyed. Whereas the tasting room at Benziger was somewhat small and therefore intimate, Imagery Estate Winery's tasting room was large and modern and compared with the helpfulness I've experienced at other wineries, the staff seemed somewhat uninterested in discussing the wines or offering suggestions and more similar to a bartender at a trendy, busy wine bar - give you your drinks and leave you to it. On the plus side, art plays a significant role at Imagery and many of the labels have been created by artwork commissioned from some of today's best contemporary artists. Therefore, the labels are unique and interesting to peruse being neither formal like traditional old-world labels nor as simple or hokey like some of the newer trends in labels. The walls of the tasting room and the wine shop are similarly adorned with artwork (some of which is for sale) and many of the accessories and gifts in the shop reflect this interest in art. So...if you're into art or want a stylish, trendy place to taste, especially with a group, then Imagery might be a good choice but if you're after a smaller, more intimate environment , give this winery a miss.
