"Excellent Steak Dinner"
9
by GM (from Aurora, CO)
April 2008 - Staff

The staff was very friendly. We couldn't get a reservation at the time we wanted when we called the first time, but when we called back, they were able to squeeze us in and we were appreciative. When the waitress couldn't answer our question, a waiter who was in the vicinity was able to answer a number of questions that the waitress could not. Also, the GM of the restaurant gave us some cards for free appetizers, which was nice. The staff was very attentive.

Environment

You can see the beautiful mountain range from just about any seat since the restaurant sits on the top floor of the Holiday Inn at Crown Point (4th floor). If you can, try to get a booth near the window to maximize your view.

A piano player played in the background and he was pretty good (singing the likes of Elton John and other artists that I can’t seem to recall).

Food

My wife split a salad with a friend and it was plenty big enough for her. My party each had steaks (filets), which we were able to prepare on individual volcanic stones (which is pretty cool). Each individual stone is 800 degrees and is a stone where you prepare your meat to your own liking. You cut your slices, lay it on the stone, and cook it. You have to be careful not to overdo your own meat, but you don't have to worry about the chef over- or under-preparing your meat. I'd also be careful if you have small children sitting too close to the stone, but it was a nice experience cooking our own steaks and the food was wonderful. My wife wasn't too crazy about the nutmeg in the Goat Cheese Scalloped Potatoes, but I enjoyed it. The staff had no problems in bringing a baked potato for my wife.

Note: If you choose to get an 8 oz. filet, order the "Build Your Own Bonanza". Ordering the filet normally costs $34, but ordering two 4 oz filets only costs $30.

Conclusion

This restaurant was excellent and we look forward to going back!
