June 2008 - The Marriott Marquis was located one block off Peachtree Road (the main road in Atlanta) near the downtown restaurant area of Atlanta and near the main attractions. CNN, the Aquarium, the Coke Museum, the Georgia World Conference Center and the Olympic Park were within a few blocks of the hotel and an easy walk. The subway station was across the street from the hotel in a small tourist mall. The hotel had 50 floors and was an open spiral concept. From the lobby you could look up to the top floor. The elevators were glass and were situated in the centre of the hotel so you could look up and down unubstructed. The hotel had a small sundry shop, a Starbucks, and several bars. The rooms were very large with two double beds and a full sized bathroom. The view from our 15th floor room looked out over the older part of the city and the Bank of America Plaza (the 3rd tallest building in the US) - an impressive building when lit up at night. The staff were all very helpful and chatty. The only complaint that I would have was that the service in the refreshments areas was very slow. But, since Atlanta is a conference city, the hotel is consistently full and the staff work very hard. I would for sure stay here again.
