January 2008 - This hotel is really nice and it’s location is phenomenal!
It is located right on Makena beach where you can find a wonderful area for scuba diving as well as snorkeling! It’s right off of the hotels beach. If you swim out to the left there is a coral reef where you can see an array of tropical fish in addition to the large sea turtles! The famous crater is there for diving as well as the turtle cleaning station. People pay to come out there on tours and you would have it right in front of you.
The Shops of Weilia are just a five minute drive away and the hotel shuttle driver takes you there as well as picks you up when you call for the ride back. These shops are awesome.... there’s something for every shopper, from Tiffany’s to Guess to Board Shops and there’s food!
This hotel has wonderful staff that is always helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and quiet. Beds were a little hard for me but I still had a great nights sleep.
The hotel has a couple of great restaurants but they are quite pricey, as is the hotel, but the food is very good. Although this hotel is expensive, I think that it is worth the price. First off, it’s in Maui, where everything is expensive. Secondly, the service and ambiance of this hotel is something that everyone should experience when they go to Maui. .. they lei you when you arrive and give you a cool lemon scented towel to freshen up!!
The only negative thing that I can say about the hotel is that the decor is a little dated.
If you’re looking to save a little money you can do so on the food. There are plenty of shops and food stands around that are inexpensive and have tasty food (try a fish taco), or go to a different island .
This place is a little quieter so if you’re looking to party all night. .this is not the place to go.
