September 2007 - This hotel is located at the "gateway" to Waikiki. There is a modern swimming pool on the second floor. The room faced the city and was very pretty at night. Though the room was a bit outdated, it had a decent bed. The bathroom was older tile, but it was clean and the sheets and towels were fresh. It is a solid concrete building, which makes for very quiet rooms, except for the traffic outside. The view from the 10th floor balcony was very nice. The street that leads to the hotel splits around it, one way going south, one going north. It was a little hard to get to as it is surrounded by one-way streets. The parking was $10 per night and it was fairly convenient. The front entrance was recently renovated and has an oriental feel to it. The price was very good at $80US per night as it was walking distance to the Waikiki market, Waikiki Beach and the Ala Moana Canal. The security was good as some parts of Honolulu are not very safe at night. There was always someone at the desk incase you needed something. Also, there are a few restaurants in the immediate area. There is even one attached to the hotel on the main floor. We would stay at this hotel again because of the proximity to local attractions and the modest price.
