September 2007 - We walked into the Hula Grill from Waikiki beach just before sunset for some dinner. We were seated at a table for two on the lanai overlooking Waikiki beach. There was a beautiful view of Diamond Head as well as the rest of Waikiki. The décor is very upscale antique Hawaiian. The waiter was there within a few minutes. Even before we ordered, he brought us Foccacia Bread with olive oil and their homemade sweet chili ginger sauce. The sauce was amazing (we have tried to make it at home since we’ve been back!). I had Cuban rubbed pork and my fiancée had Ono fish. The food was quick and wonderful. Both dishes were served with mashed sweet potato and fresh vegetables. As we ate, we watched the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. There was soft live music being played inside the restaurant. We had a few tropical drinks from their vast drink menu. For dessert we ordered a fresh fruit plate and chocolate ice cream. Our total bill was reasonable at just over $80US. We will defiantly be going back to the Hula Grill, for the food, the ambiance and the service.
