June 2008 - Cousins Subs is a new addition to the busy area just off I-65 in Scottsburg, IN.
The restaurant offers a variety of sub sandwiches and accompaniments. Cousins prides itself on having excellent quality bread, better than other national chains.
We were promptly greeted and chose from a fairly large menu of sandwich options. Cousins offers a "two for five" deal in which a pair of 7 1/2 inch sandwiches (your choice of bread) are $5. It's a tempting deal and we took advantage. One member of our party chose the tuna on white, and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of tuna on the sandwich. The quality was good as was the freshness factor!
The other sandwich we ordered was a ham and provolone on white. I was pleased with the portion but didn't find the bread to be much beyond ordinary, although it was indeed better than at least one national chain.
Our service was very friendly and fast. Drinks were served fresh and cold. Cousins also offers its own brand of chips which were sizable in portion and quite good. Soups are available as well.
The restaurant was new and therefore very clean. We'd recommend you try it if you're in the area, or passing through and in need of something other than just another hamburger joint.
