July 2008 - The Slapshotz Bar & Grill in the Detroit Metro Airport is a classic burger joint. Its also a great place to get a good domestic beer. Their menu is of moderate size but it has a large selection of burgers and hot dogs. Their dogs are available with cheese or chilli or both and their burgers can come topped with just about anything you want. They also serve up great tasting, crispy waffle fries but not in large portions. I had the classic burger for lunch and my four other dining partners had various other burgers. The classic burger is basically a bigger, better version of a Big Mac with its special sauce. The service was prompt and very helpful with regard to our menu selections. Surprisingly, the restaurant was not busy at 11 am on a Friday. All the burgers were priced at around $10 after tax. The hot dogs with fries cost slightly less. The restaurant is non-smoking and is highly recommended if you are in the mood for a good burger.
